“Why are you adding all these new inspirational signs in our house?”

I blinked at her. “What? I thought you were the one putting up the signs!”

We stared at each other to see if one of us would start laughing, revealing the joke.

We shrieked when a new sign materialised.

“It’s me!”

About the challenge: Each Tuesday I will provide a photo prompt. Your mission, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to tell a story in 280 characters or less. When you write your tale, be sure to let me know in the comments with a link to your tale. This is important as I have noticed that some of the ping backs have not been working. If you would prefer to post your tale in the comments (some people have very specific blog themes but still want to participate), I am happy to post a link to your site when I post your tale in the Round Up.

100 Word Wednesday: Week 140

Pool Party

We really don’t understand what the fuss is about.

It was an open pool party invitation. Doesn’t that mean anyone can come? Although I must admit, I probably got a bit too excited and informed too many friends. Still, it’s rude of the organiser and the other guests, the manner they treated us when we arrived to make ourselves comfortable on the poolside chairs.

You should have seen how they over-reacted – screaming, running and overturning everything. The nerve of them!

I mean, we still feel hurt at the treatment even though we are dead!

(95 words)

The dead silence at the pool is a legend…If the pool is empty and quiet, something must be wrong. LOL

100 Word Wednesday: Week 127

“It’s interesting how things turn out,” she continued. “You killed me and now, I came back as your guide to the next world.”

“So a revenge, is that it?” I challenged, my voice unrepentant. “Making sure I’ll dead?”

Her eyes rolled. “Men!” Staring straight into my eyes, she continued. “That choice is yours alone, as a prisoner of your own body or to cross over the ocean.”

Silence reigned.

She glanced at the sparkler in her hands and smiled. “Remember your last words to me? Now let me repeat them back at you. Your time is running out.”

I love the idea of karma, although we do not see it in real life action. But wouldn’t it be a shocking, at your death bed, to see someone you killed giving you an impossible choice?

As you may have suspected, I’m a vengeful kind of person. LOL

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #24

Title: The Husband

“Let me in, please! I need you, Jenny.”

Jenny closed her eyes and ignored the plea. It was over between them; she knew this but her husband did not. Her ex-husband. And now, he stood outside pleading, she sobbing quietly inside, separated by a door. So near yet so far.

“Please, give me a chance. Give us a chance.”

She leaned against the door, trying to control her sobs and the urge to threw open the door. Just go away, she chanted in her mind. Oh, how tempted she was to open the door.

“Please, baby.”

“Go away,” she finally cried out, no longer able to control herself. “Just go away! Please! I killed you myself!”

I love me a twist. I have been trying to master the art of adding twists to my stories without too much squeaking sound. I’m not sure how this one plays out though. Please leave comments to tell me if it works out. Thanks!
