Pool Party

We really don’t understand what the fuss is about.

It was an open pool party invitation. Doesn’t that mean anyone can come? Although I must admit, I probably got a bit too excited and informed too many friends. Still, it’s rude of the organiser and the other guests, the manner they treated us when we arrived to make ourselves comfortable on the poolside chairs.

You should have seen how they over-reacted – screaming, running and overturning everything. The nerve of them!

I mean, we still feel hurt at the treatment even though we are dead!

(95 words)

The dead silence at the pool is a legend…If the pool is empty and quiet, something must be wrong. LOL

Crime and Punishment

The black van has been there for three days straight.

The FBI have underestimated him – he, the drug lord who controlled a quarter of the city and over half the drug business, from smuggling to sale.

He still continues his daily business though; he even appears in the street where the FBI van is located to oversee the art installation.

His plan is to lull those agents into a false sense of security by hanging those decorations, then make a quick escape.

Of course the agents will give chase – that is when those decorations will explode, killing them.

Fine Dining

Everyone knows it is a dining restaurant. It used to be only for the rich upper class; now, it welcomes all. After all, business is getting competitive.

The restaurant still maintains its exclusiveness though, only allowing a certain number of people to enter and taking note of their dietary preferences. A major allure is the soundproofed private dining rooms.

In these dining rooms are where the customers are prepared for meals and served, accordingly to individual culinary preferences.

And this restaurant still enjoys rave reviews from the monsters, who praise the professional manner which the chef prepares the human customers.

Four Guardian Beasts

The drought turned what was once green brown, then nothing.

The boy grew distraught. What was to become of his family?

Naively, he dug a well under the sun. Still, no water. The boy collapsed onto the cracked ground.

“Azure Dragon God of the East is no more. Rain would not come. Would you sacrifice your love for your family to bring rain to everyone on this land?”

Yes, he thought. Yes.

Black Tortoise of the North carried the boy to the Eastern Sea to become the next Azure Dragon God.

Rain came for everyone on this land once more.

Stan the Saxophonist

Scientists have proven music helps plants grow better; after all, plants are living creatures too.

He has been practising his saxophone in front of these plants for well over 40 years so he should know – the trees are growing very well. His fellow musicians have been laughing at his saxophone playing. But his perseverance is paying off; they will laugh no longer.

The trees growl angrily as he continues his tune. Soon, they will storm into the towns and they will pay for the deadly insults all those years back.

He is Stan the Saxophonist.

And they will pay.

(100 words)

Inspired by The Legend of Pied Piper, I was very eager to write this story. But once again, this story is late because of time constraint and, of course if you know me by now, word limit.

If only I could play a magical instrument to rouse the plants to a war march.

Vindictive nature much? LOL.

She had always been nimble since she was a child, climbing everywhere before she could walk properly. Her mother used to call her “my little monkey”.

And all her jobs had got something to do with heights; window cleaning, billboard painting, power lines installing and the likes.

But bounded to a wheelchair now, she was a shell of her former self, unable to even climb the stairs.

“Look how high I’m going, Gramma!” the little girl laughed.

Running to the other side, her granddaughter went down the slide fearlessly.

She smiled. “Climb, my little monkey, climb!”

Her legacy lived on.

(100 words)

How beautiful it is, to pass on one’s skill to the next generation. If there is only one regret I must name, it will be my clumsiness to learn my mother and paternal grandmother’s culinary skills. My mother had inherited my paternal and maternal grandmothers’ recipes of traditional dishes. While I learnt to make the simplest and most basic dishes, I lacked the aptitude to learn the more complicated dishes.

How much of history is lost if I can never learn them…

Crabby Fate

They were disoriented.

First, they were walking sideways from one end to the other on the beach, terrorizing everyone. Next minute, they were on their backs with their scrawny stick-like legs kicking helplessly in the air. How on ocean did that happen?

Beach.

They could not even right themselves. Sky became ground and ground became air.

Meanwhile, their own bodies were looking down at them. Poseidon had given his crustacean children a choice – to adapt to their new two-legged unprotected bodies or to return to their previous crabby lives?

(90 words)

I enjoy writing and perpetrating the absurdity of this story. Sort of like Freaky Friday, except you don’t get Jamie Lee Curtis, only crabs. If you get what I mean. LOL

“Like I explained, this part of the city is closed because we have detected the possibility of sinkholes and we are rectifying the situation,” the spokesperson repeated amidst the barrage of questions and the tension.

“When are we able to go home then?” someone shouted.

“Yea, what about our lives? We can’t stay in the shelter forever!” another woman shouted.

Everyone started clamoring for answers and the situation was deteriorating.

No one would be protesting in front of the road closure signs if the spokesperson had told them the truth.

That mutant groundhogs were launching an invasion to the surface.

Great Escape

After hearing tragic screams of the first brave cyclist, the remaining survivors gathered at the entrance of the tunnel to formulate a plan.

“What if we light a fire at the entrance?” someone suggested.

“Don’t be silly. Are we trying to draw it out or keep it in?”

“Well, I’ve seen the creature flirting with a campfire before. It likes fire.”

“Are you willing to risk the safety of the children?”

A loud belch from the tunnel answered their question.

It seemed escape was impossible with the dragon guarding the only tunnel leading in and out of the town.

(99 words)

For some reason, tunnels always bring out the worst imagination in me. I have imagined it collapsing, filled with imaginary creatures like zombies, dragons or aliens, leading into another dimension or trapping people forever without any way out.

I should really stop thinking about such silly fantasies.

“It’s interesting how things turn out,” she continued. “You killed me and now, I came back as your guide to the next world.”

“So a revenge, is that it?” I challenged, my voice unrepentant. “Making sure I’ll dead?”

Her eyes rolled. “Men!” Staring straight into my eyes, she continued. “That choice is yours alone, as a prisoner of your own body or to cross over the ocean.”

Silence reigned.

She glanced at the sparkler in her hands and smiled. “Remember your last words to me? Now let me repeat them back at you. Your time is running out.”

(98 words)

I love the idea of karma, although we do not see it in real life action. But wouldn’t it be a shocking, at your death bed, to see someone you killed giving you an impossible choice?

As you may have suspected, I’m a vengeful kind of person. LOL
